ACCESS TO THE STREET

To access the street, a very strong CV is necessary:

- broken and nuclear fainily.

- Failure in school or illiteracy.

- no hobbies.

- DOCTOR STREET: This is the answer. The cure-all. At first, children tend to run away several dines. Gradually, they start sniffing glue, which makes them feel so good that they do it again.

A real and unique world governed by itsown nues and constraints.

These outcasts have established in the street a kind of hieraivhy, code of honour, a behaviour that meets the legislation of the street, where a great solidarity exists, meaning, you share your glue, your cardboard, yourmeal.

The clan becomes the substitute family. of course, Violence is donnnant and considered to be essential in dialogue.

SNIFFING GLUE

Sniffing glue (TCHAMKIR) is found in almost 95% of those cases.

The inhalation is done by nasal or buccal route, with a cloth or a plastic bag.

By the nasal route, the ecstasy is reach very quickly, precede by a vertiginous sensation and a noise.

By the buccal route, the ecstasy will be obtained with a dose twice as great, preceded by difficulty in

breathing, a sensation of suffocation.

IMPACT OF GLUE

- means of survival don't feel the cold, the hunger, sink into a deep sleep (without always being alen),

- escape, access to an imaginary world, full of fiction, incoherence, delirium

leading into: fights, self-mutilation.

BEHAVIOUR PROBLEMS

-loss of time and space landmarks.

- no respect for authority : no fear of anybody.

- no trust in others or themselves.

- rejection institutions : family, schools, other organised officially gathering centres.

- intense stade of denial.

- no positive vision of their future

- sexuality strained with violence : rape.

- violence +++

CONCLUSION

Living in the streets leads, in the long run, to a real medico-social handicap.

Working in the strets is essential : gain confidence, being positive, detoxication and a progressive sociabilisation.

The degree of the quality of listening is very irnportant

The social reintegration is along and hard way: our country suffers from the lack of alternatives. Prevention is an emergency: family, schooland neighbourhoods

It is time to give a real status to social workers.
